This artificial intelligence bot is capable of answering questions, writing essays, and programming computers. But be cautious about how much you rely on it.
There’s a new AI bot in town: ChatGPT, and even if you’re not into artificial intelligence, you should pay attention.
The tool, developed by OpenAI, allows you to ask questions in natural language, to which the chatbot responds in a conversational, if slightly stilted, manner. The bot remembers the thread of your conversation, using previous questions and answers to inform its next responses. Its answers are derived from massive amounts of information on the internet.
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a variant of the GPT (Generative Pre-training Transformer) language model that was developed specifically for conversation and chatbot applications. GPT is a type of transformer-based language model developed by OpenAI that has been trained on a large dataset of human-generated text and is capable of generating natural language text that is coherent and resembles human writing.
The ChatGPT model was developed by fine-tuning the original GPT model on a dataset of human conversations, such as chat logs or transcripts of customer support conversations. This allows the model to better understand the structure and flow of conversation and generate more natural and coherent responses when used in a chatbot or other conversational application.
Like the original GPT model, ChatGPT can be fine-tuned on a specific task or domain to improve its performance for that specific use case. For example, a chatbot using ChatGPT as a base model could be fine-tuned on a dataset of customer support conversations to make it more effective at answering customer inquiries and providing support.
What kinds of questions can you ask from ChatGPT?
You can ask any question, although you may not get an answer. OpenAI suggested several categories, including explaining physics, looking for birthday party ideas, and getting help with programming.
However, ChatGPT can be used as the basis for a chatbot or other conversational application that is capable of answering questions. In this case, the chatbot would use ChatGPT to generate appropriate responses to the questions it is asked, based on the text it has been trained on and any additional fine-tuning it has undergone for a specific task or domain.
I asked “Write a poem for fatima’s birthday” see the ChatGPT’s answer below
The types of questions that a chatbot using ChatGPT as a base model would be able to answer would depend on the specific task or domain it has been trained on and fine-tuned for. For example, a chatbot trained on customer support conversations might be able to answer questions about products or services, troubleshoot technical issues, or provide information about billing or account management. A chatbot trained on a different task or domain, such as a virtual assistant for scheduling or task management, might be able to answer questions about calendar appointments, deadlines, or other tasks and responsibilities.
How to register an OpenAI account
Using the ChatGPT chatbot is very easy as you just enter a text and you get the message. However, OpenAI requires an account to use any of its tools, so if you don’t have one, you’ll need to register. You can easily choose to sign in with your Google or Microsoft account.
Otherwise, you can enter it manually if you have another type of email. Next, you will need to enter your phone number; However, please note that you cannot use a virtual telephone (VoIP) number to register with OpenAI. You will then receive a confirmation number that you will enter on the registration page to complete the setup.
You’ll know you’ve signed up when you see certain internal rules about ChatGPT, such as possible errors in data, how OpenAI collects data, and how users submit feedback.
What all can ChatGPT do?
Well, here’s the fun part. Since their launch, people have been trying to figure out what chatbots can and can’t do. Some have speculated about the negative impact of AI-generated text on online content, and have even wondered if high school essays could become a thing of the past.
We tested ChatGPT to see if it could handle Christmas shopping and even correctly interpret astrological makeup. Either way, we found its capabilities to be limited while we were impressed with the results.
But the fun is in trying it for yourself. Whether you think ChatGPT is amazing technology or that it will destroy the Internet as we know it, it’s worth trying it out for yourself to see what it can do.
Is ChatGPT free?
Now anyway. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman warned on Sunday: “At some point we’re going to have to monetize this somehow; the computational cost is incredible.” DALL-E artwork. But OpenAI seems to have found customers, possibly because of its GPT tool.
Potential investors have been told that OpenAI expects to generate $200 million in revenue by 2023 and $1 billion in revenue by 202 , according to Reuters.
Will ChatGPT Enable Students to Cheat More Effectively?
Yes, but like many other technological developments, this is not a simple black and white situation. While students could transcribe encyclopedia entries decades ago, recently they have been able to search the Internet and delve into Wikipedia entries.
ChatGPT offers new features for everything from research assistance to live tasks. Many of the responses on ChatGPT look a lot like student papers, although they are often more stuffy and guarded than the authors.
High school teacher Daniel Herrmann concluded that ChatGPT actually writes better than most students today. He is torn between admiring the potential benefit of ChatGPT and worrying about the harm it does to human learning:
“Is this moment more like the invention of the calculator, saving me from the tedium of long division, or more like the invention of the player piano, robbing us of what can be communicated only through human emotion?”

Is this better than Google search?
It’s useful to ask the computer questions and get answers, and ChatGPT often delivers the goods. Google will often provide you with suggested answers to your questions and links to websites it deems relevant. ChatGPT’s answers often beat Google’s suggestions, so it’s easy to imagine GPT-3 as a competitor.
But you should think twice before trusting ChatGPT. As with other sources of information such as Google and Wikipedia, it is best practice to verify information before trusting the original source.
Investigating the accuracy of ChatGPT’s responses takes some work, as it only gives you text without links or quotes. But they can be useful and, in some cases, thought-provoking.
You might not see something like ChatGPT directly in Google search results, but Google has built its own great language models and is already using AI extensively in search. So ChatGPT definitely points the way for our technological future.
